Last Night of the Proms brings Royal Albert Hall to Sidmouth

Sidmouth Nursing Home was transformed into the Royal Albert Hall earlier this week for a very special Last Night of the Proms.

Organised for BBC Music Day,  Tuesday’s session was led by Kate and Steve Grant from Musica Devon.

They were delighted to be joined by Val Howels as ‘Britannia’, who led the patriotic finale.

Musica Devon is a franchise of Musica, a not for profit organisation established in 2010 to support the dementia journey through music.

Sessions run by Musica are completely responsive and adapted to be ‘in the moment’ with participants.

The brainchild of founder Rosanna Mead, a PhD student at the University of Exeter, Musica is passionate about embedding music into the care of people living with dementia.

Kate and Steve regularly visit homes all over Devon to deliver interactive music workshops which aim to be varied, inclusive and great fun.
