Police investigate sex assault in Exmouth town centre

Police have cordoned off areas of Exmouth town centre as officers investigate reports a woman was sexually assaulted in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

Devon and Cornwall police confirmed officers were called to the Rolle Street area of Exmouth at 3.44am on Saturday, September 21, to investigate reports of a sexual assault.

Police said ‘enquiries were ongoing’ and parts of the town remain cordoned off to the public.

Officers remain at the scene and forensic police are expected to attend.

Devon and Cornwall Police said areas of Exmouth were on ‘lockdown’ until further notice.

They include an alleyway near Imperial Road, a car park and shop loading bay.

Devon and Cornwall Police are expected to release further information later today.
