Ambulance service training block could be revamped to provide new facilities

South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust has submitted plans to East Devon District Council to revamp a building at its Ambulance Special Operations Centre at Skypark.

The application relates to premises in Dakota Way,  Clyst Honiton. It proposes the demolition/conversion of a two storey training building and the erection of single storey extension.

New provisions would include toilet and shower facilities, offices on a first-floor mezzanine and the installation of external staircase.

The centre is home to the Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response team and the Hazardous Area Response Team.

East Devon District Council has sought responses from a total of 10 consultees. So far, just Exeter and Devon Airport has responded.

It states: “This proposal has been examined from an Aerodrome Safeguarding aspect and does not appear to conflict with safeguarding criteria.”
