Exmouth Town FC bounced back from their FA Cup disappointment of seven days before as they bagged a place in the first round proper of the FA Vase with a 5-1 win at Cadbury Heath.
A brace of early penalties – both scored by Karl Rickard, the first for a 12th-minute handball and the second for an 18th-minute foul on Ben Steer, saw Town into a two-goal advantage.
A third goal was no more than their dominance deserved and it came from the head of Ace High six minutes into the second half.
The home side hit back with a long-range strike, but Town swiftly restored their three goal advantage when Ben Steer netted.
A late fifth from Ace High was the icing on the cake for a Town side who were good value for their win at the home of a fellow Toolstation Western League outfit who are the next visitors to Southern Road.
The pair meet in Exmouth in a league encounter on the final Saturday of the month (September 28).
The draw for the 1st Round proper will be made on Monday (September 16) with the matches set to be played on Saturday, October 12.
Town are back in action on Tuesday night when they are at Almondsbury for a Les Phillips Cup (the Toolstation Western League league cup competition) tie.
