Police arrest six teenagers in Exmouth in connection with street robberies

Police have arrested six teenagers in Exmouth in connection with street robberies in the town.

Officers in Exmouth said the suspects, aged from 14-19 years old, are currently in custody and being questioned by police.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a number of other enquiries are also being carried out in connection with these offences.

Inspector Antonia Weeks has appealed for information to help with ongoing investigations.

She said police want to keen to hear from anyone who was in Phear Park area on Friday, September 6 at about 10pm, who may have seen or spoken to a group of teenagers, or in the Madeira Walk area of Exmouth on August 25 at about 6.20pm.

She said: “ Exmouth police today arrested six suspects in connection with recent reported street robberies in Exmouth.

“All six, who range in age from 14 to 19 years, are currently in custody and being questioned by police.

“A number of other enquiries are also being carried out in connection with these offences.”

UPDATE: A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said on Friday (September 13): “Five people were released under investigation pending further enquires.

“A 17-year-old boy was released on police bail until October 3.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”
