A 28-year-old man is in custody following an alleged hit and run collision involving a car and a pedestrian near Exeter Airport.
Police say a 16-year-old pedestrian is in hospital with serious injuries following the incident, which occurred at 8.30pm yesterday (September 10) on the B3183 Clyst Honiton bypass,
A police spokesperson said: “The car fled the scene following the incident and was located following searches.
“A 28-year-old man, from Exeter, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, disqualified driving, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop. He remains in police custody at this time.”
A stretch of the B3184 bypass remained closed while a forensic examination of the scene was conducted. The road was fully reopened at 1am.
Officers from the Exeter Roads Policing Unit are today appealing for witnesses to come forward.
