Investigation proposed following alleged breach of confidentiality at Honiton Town Council

Members of Honiton Town Council are to be asked to back an investigation into an alleged breach of confidentiality.

At a meeting on Monday (September 9), councillors will hear that information from a confidential part of last month’s full meeting was leaked.

It has not yet been revealed what constituted the alleged breach. However the item listed for Part B of the August meeting referred to an individual’s role.

The press and public can be barred from certain discussions if they meet criteria set down in national guidelines.

The alleged breach of confidentiality has already been discussed by the authority’s Human Resources Committee. At that meeting the Mayor, Councillor John Zarczynski, proposed an investigation should be carried out.

His proposal was seconded by Councillor Roy Coombs and unanimously agreed.

The full agenda for Monday’s meeting can be seen here.
