East Devon’s MP pledged to back the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, ahead of a bid by cross-party MPs to block a no-deal Brexit last night.
Hugo Swire says the move to delay Brexit is being orchestrated by those who have still not accepted the result of the referendum.
He tweeted he would be supporting Mr Johnson and voting against against a motion that would lead to a bill requesting a further delay to the UK’s exit from the European Union.
I will be voting against this motion tonight as it completely undermines the PM’s attempt to get a deal on Brexit. It is little more than a cynical attempt to delay or revoke the whole process by those who have never accepted the result of the referendum.

After losing his majority in the Commons and the vote, Mr Johnson is now expected to call a General Election – either today or early next week.
Mr Swire said the vote last night ‘undermines’ the Prime Minister’s attempts to get a deal on Brexit.
He wrote: “It is little more than a cynical attempt to delay or revoke the whole process by those who have never accepted the result of the referendum.”
MPs voted 328 to 301 to take control of the agenda, allowing them to bring forward a bill requesting a Brexit delay.
