Author to give talk on ‘Doing Local Politics Differently’

Author Peter Macfadyen is to give a talk entitled ‘Doing Local Politics Differently’ in Honiton.

A seasoned speaker, his booked ‘Flatpack Democracy’ has seen him talk to various groups around the country.

From Frome, in Somerset, he talks about local politics and a ‘revolution’ that occurred on the town council in Frome eight years ago.

Mr Macfadyden is the founder of Sustainable Frome and a director of Frome’s Renewable Energy Co-op.

He initiated the formation of Independents for Frome (IfF) to support a group of individuals to stand and get elected to Frome Town Council in 2011. Ten of the 17 who stood were elected, giving IfF a clear majority on the council.

The talk, supported by the Honiton and Axe Valley branch of the Labour Party, will take place in the Hayward Room at The Beehive, 7.30pm on October 16.
