Budleigh Salterton AFC lose 4-1 at home to Alphington

Budleigh Salterton AFC were beaten 4-1 at Greenway Lane when they met Alphington in their second home game of the new Scott Richards Solicitors Devon League North and East campaign.

Budleigh, beaten 5-2 last midweek at Topsham Town, trailed 1-0 at the break after a defensive mistake and they shipped two more before getting one back through Jake Chudley.

The Robins’, who gave as good as they got throughout the contest then threw everything they had at the Alphas in an attempt to find a second goal only to ship a fourth to a slick counter-attack.

Budleigh Salterton AFC are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel into Exeter to meet Exwick Villa.

Skipper Luke Iddon, one of a number of players who missed the meeting with Alphington, returns for the Exwick game. On Saturday (August 31), the Robins are again in away action when they visit St Martins.
