Dementia friendly folk event attracts big crowd in Honiton

More than 90 people gathered at The Beehive in Honiton recently for an afternoon of dementia-friendly folk music, songs and poems.

Hosted by Honiton Memory Cafe, the event was also attended by a large group from Sidmouth Memory Cafe along with others who came to enjoy the entertainment.

Nationally acclaimed folk singer Jim Causley was joined by Charlie Coldfield and, between them, they read poems and sang songs-  many with an origin in Devon.

The organisers say there was some great audience participation, finishing with a rousing rendition of Widecombe Fair.

Honiton Dementia Action Alliance aims to bring people together from across the community to help people living with dementia and their families to feel, safe, accepted and included in all aspects of community life.
