Stricken yacht towed to safety by Exmouth RNLI

A yacht suffering loss of power and rigging problems just off Exmouth seafront was rescued by the RNLI inshore lifeboat crew.

Exmouth RNLI was tasked at around 3pm on Saturday, August 24, after an alert by the Coastguard.

The lifeboat crew towed the vessel back to Exmouth Marina for repairs.

An Exmouth RNLI spokesman said: “The Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat George Bearman II attended a report of a yacht in difficulty just off the seafront in Exmouth.

“The vessel had reportedly suffered from loss of power and difficulty with rigging.

“Volunteer crew were quickly on the scene to assess the situation.

“The yacht and its occupants were safely towed inshore to the visitors’ moorings at Exmouth Marina in order that repairs could be effected.”
