Family names new Honiton bar after Jim ‘Bruv’ Hagon

The former Bar 102 in Honiton’s High Street is due to re-open next month as Bruv’s Bar. It will boast a completely new look with an industrial theme and offer live music, food and a lot more.

Named after one of its owners, Jim ‘Bruv’ Hagon, the business is a real family affair.

Joining Jim is his wife, Sharon, son Reece, daughter Shannon and Reece’s wife, Lauren.

Jim is well-known for calling everyone ‘Bruv’ – hence the bar’s name.

Work to revamp the bar is in full swing. The Hagon family, who have lived in Honiton for 15 years, say they want ‘inject something new into the town’.

As well as boating a fully stocked bar, the business will offer soft drinks, along with tea and coffee.

A limited initial food selection will be developed so that, by the end of the year, Bruv’s Bar is serving breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

The family said: “We’ve got a brilliant space for live music, and are looking forward to welcoming local bands and musicians to the bar.

“We’ll also be running themed nights, like quiz nights, karaoke and comedy notes.”

The bar is currently being renovated and will have a completely different look.

Lauren Hagon said: “We’ve got plugs and USB points around the bar so it’ll be an ideal place to set up a laptop for an afternoon to work or hold meetings.

“We’ve got a jukebox with nearly every song you could ever imagine and a games machine. There’s a really good size garden at the back – hopefully we’ll have some sunny days in September to enjoy it!”

The official opening date will be announced nearer the time. Update below.
