River Cottage prepares to stage two-day festival

The headquarters of the River Cottage brand, made famous by campaigning broadcaster Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, is to stage a two-day festival near Axminster next week.

Hosted by Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall and promising a weekend of ‘music, food and fun on the farm’, River Cottage Festival will boast talks, live music, a feast of meal choices and much more.

Workshops and walks are part of the programme, along with theatre, yoga, bushcraft and stargazing.

At the Fire Pit top chefs will give demonstrations and, in the bar, indie legend Richard Colburn will be DJ.

Speakers include BBC One presenter Steph McGovern and Bez, of Happy Mondays fame, will be DJing on the Sunday night.

The music line-up includes Pilgrims’ Dream, Forro Tempo, The Luck, Velvet and Stone, Psychadelephant, Congo Faith Healers and many more.

Talks on the Garden Stage include ‘What is healthy living?’, due to be delivered by Mr Fearnley-Whittingstall, and ‘So what are we going to do about plastic?’.

Single use plastic is being eliminated from the event.

Willow weaving, natural woodwork and leathercraft after among the workshops on offer.

There will be a cookery school, children’s area, book signings and a whole lot more.
