Multiple 999 calls over fire in Exeter car compound

Multiple callers reported a fire in an Exeter car compound to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service earlier today (August 17).

As a result of the big public response, two appliances were sent to the location on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate.

Crews from Danes Castle and Middlemoor were dispatched because of concerns the fire could spread to other cars at the site.

The fire service reports that, on arrival, it was confirmed that three cars were ‘well alight’.

Crews extinguished the blaze using four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.

Three cars were completely destroyed and a further four cars were damaged.
