Honiton duck race rescheduled to tomorrow

Honiton and District Lions Club will hold their annual duck race tomorrow (August 18) and everyone is hoping for good weather and suitable river conditions.

Last weekend’s event was postponed due to river conditions following high winds and rain.

The race will take place at the Otter Inn, Weston, at 2pm.

Attractions will include stalls and the fun starts at noon.

All the money raised by the Lions Club benefits good causes. The club actively supports local, national and international projects.

Locally, it supports everything from Charter Day to Christmas events. It participates in the Lions’ Mole Screening Day and Message In A Bottle initiative.

Founded in 1977, the Honiton club aims to ’empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs’.

In October the club is staging a ladies’ pamper evening and October 5 it will hold another of its popular table top sales in the Mackarness Hall.

The duck race tomorrow is dependent on the river conditions. Watch this space for any updates.
