Mayor’s sadness at Budleigh town councillors’ double resignation

Certificates of appreciation were presented by Budleigh Salterton’s mayor Caz Sismore-Hunt to district Councillors Alan Dent and Tom Wright, who on Monday, August 12, stepped down from the town council.

Councillors Dent and Wright took the decision to resign from Budleigh Salterton Town Council earlier this month, to focus on their work with East Devon District Council (EDDC).

The pair said their decision to step down as Budleigh members would enable them to give all councils in their ward equal attention now their district council ward had expanded to include Colaton Raleigh and Otterton.

Councillor Caz Sismore-Hunt handed out certificates and thanked the pair for all their work and dedication to the town during their years serving as Budleigh councillors.

Cllr Sismore- Hunt said: “It’s been great to work with them. They have been very helpful and useful and I think it’s really sad we are losing them.”

Councillor Alan Dent is EDDC’s chairman of the scrutiny committee. He also sits on the community grant panel.

Councillor Tom Wright is EDDC’s lead member for community safety; he sits on the development management committee and licensing and enforcement committee.
