Honiton and District Lions’ Club was forced to cancel its popular duck race at Weston today, saying the river was unsafe and that ‘weather conditions are against us’.
The annual event was scheduled to take place at the Otter Inn at 2pm. Attractions were to include stalls.
Posting on social media, the club said: “The river is unsafe to release the ducks and weather conditions are against us.”
Part of the club’s regular fundraising activities, the event is to be discussed at a meeting this coming week.
It is hoped that a new date can be set when Lions discuss the race on Tuesday (August 13).
