Have you got a working mobility scooter or electric or manual wheelchair you no longer use?
So many people in Honiton are in desperate need of mobility aids that the Joe Gilson Mobility Scheme has today (August 9) issued an urgent appeal for scooters and wheelchairs.
It wants to help more people escape the isolation of being trapped in their own homes and enable them to get out and enjoy life again.
Set up in memory of the late Joe Gilson, the initiative has already helped countless local people with mobility problems be more independent.
The scheme’s founder Carol Gilson BEM, Joe’s widow, said: “The scheme is appealing for working scooters, electric wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs. Many people are waiting in need.”
A mobility scooter can literally transform someone’s life – allowing them to carry out every-day tasks most people take for granted. Having the freedom to get out of the home gives those with poor mobility the opportunity to engage with the community and really feel part of what is going on.
If you have an unwanted mobility scooter or wheelchair, electric or manual, Carol wants to hear from you.
Your donation will make a world of difference to someone’s life.
