Admiral Nurse fund boosted by Honiton pet store

Efforts to improve the lives of 200 people with dementia in Honiton, along with their families, have received a boost from a pet supplies store in the town.

Slades has presented £797.46 to Honiton Dementia Action Alliance which is currently fundraising to pay for a local Admiral Nurse.

Providing specialist dementia support, Admiral Nurses work with those affected by all types of dementia and deliver support to their carers.

A total of £150,000 is needed for a three-year contract.

The town’s new nurse was revealed earlier this year.

Heather Penwarden, chairman of Honiton Dementia Action Alliance, received the big donation from Slades during a presentation in the store.

She thanked Sarah and Jenny, of the pet store, along with their customers for supporting the initiative.
