‘Caution’ urged after burst tyre causes crash on A30

Highways England is urging motorists to approach a section of the A30 near Honiton with caution following a collision.

Five people were travelling in a car that suffered a burst tyre. Police say the occupants had a ‘lucky’ escape.

Traffic was brought to a standstill and both lanes eastbound from Daisymount were closed for a while.

In an update, Highways England said ‘lane two has been reopened’. It urged motorists to ‘please approach and pass with caution’.

Sergeant Harry Tangye reported on Twitter that the crash involved a single vehicle and that nobody was seriously injured.

He wrote: “One lane flowing freely now… Tyre burst on steep hill, tyres were in good condition otherwise. Five lucky occupants.”
