Appeal for information in search for three men ‘trying to avoid police helicopter’ in Sidmouth

A search for three men involving the police helicopter in Sidmouth in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, August 4) has prompted an appeal for information.

Devon and Cornwall Police would like to hear from any members of the public who may have seen the trio trying to avoid the NPAS chopper from around 2am onwards.

A dog unit has also involved been involved in the search.

It is not clear what incident the police activity relates to, and the force has been approached for more information.

Devon and Cornwall Police tweeted this morning: “@DC_Police are keen to hear from anyone in #Sidmouth who may have seen 3 men trying to avoid @NPASExeter aircraft and PD_Drake_DC from 02:00 onwards. If you can see anyone, please ring 999 and quote ref 90 04/08/19. Thank you.”
