Let’s get the party started! Crowds flock to Sidmouth Folk Festival 2019

Folk festival fever arrived in Sidmouth on Friday as the town welcomed thousands of visitors for a week of unique music, dance, song and entertainment.

The Sidmouth Folk Festival is celebrating its 65th birthday this year and to mark its milestone anniversary, the event has returned to its roots and undergone a rebrand.

As a nod to its past, the Sidmouth Folk Festival returns in place of Sidmouth Folk Week, plus a new logo.

Visitors in their thousands are expected to flock to the town from now until Friday, August 9, to enjoy more than 700 attractions, performances and activities; top name concerts, family entertainment and colourful dance displays.

Sidmouth Folk Festival first-timers can expect a music-based holiday to remember – the town’s streets and venues alive with music, dancing and entertainment; small intimate shows and concert-size performances.

Children’s music workshops, creative crafts, circus skills, street theatre, singing, storytelling and games to fire young imaginations will take place at Blackmore Gardens.

The annual traditional torchlight procession at 10pm on the final Friday brings the festival to a close, followed by fireworks.
