The annual Exmouth RNLI lifeboat weekend, on Saturday August 17 until the following day, Sunday, August 18, promises live music, children’s entertainment, family fun and food stalls.
The Maer Rocks Festival launches the weekend, from noon until 9pm, August 17, at the Queens Drive Space.
On Sunday, August 18, from 10am until 3pm, an open day takes place at Exmouth’s lifeboat station, on Queens Drive.
Weekend attractions include a host of stalls; the chance to get up close to Exmouth RNLI inflatable lifeboat, plus community safety stands – RNLI lifeguards, HM Coastguard, Devon and Cornwall Police and the fire service.
Exmouth RNLI fundraising spokesman Robin Humphreys, said: “Our Exmouth RNLI lifeboat weekend is going to be two days full of fun, games and activities for all ages.
“It will provide an opportunity for all to learn more about our charity, its volunteers, water safety, our crew, boats and resources and how we save lives at sea as well as raising those important funds for equipment and training.”
There will be games with a lifeboat theme – launch the lifeboat, throw lines at a target, throw sponges at the crew and what’s in the welly?
And face painting, Mrs Snuggles Slime, and a special visit from the RNLI mascot, Stormy Stan.
Live music at the festival comes from Sarah Jory, Haytor, Rock The Night, Telstar, Bolynne, Stereo Social Musicians, Poppy Fardell and DJ Push3r.
Exmouth RNLI said the free, family-friendly festival will focus on promoting the RNLI sea safety message to all, but with special emphasis aimed at the younger generation, highlighting the current RNLI Respect The Water and Float to Live campaigns.
Over the weekend there will be opportunity to find out more about Exmouth RNLI, its volunteers, the lifeboats, lifeguards and equipment.
There will be guided tours of the lifeboat station, the RNLI shop will be selling souvenirs and there will be free checks of equipment and lifejackets.
