Budleigh’s generous donations presented to lifeline charity

Budleigh Salterton’s mayor Councillor Caz Sismore-Hunt presented a cheque for £260 to the town’s Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) shop from donations collected from the civic service retiring collection.

Pictured here at the DAAT charity shop handing over the cheque is Caz Sismore-Hunt with Reverend Martin Jacques, the new vicar for the Raleigh Mission Community.

The civic service, held at St Peter’s Church, The Lawn, Budleigh, was attended by dignitaries, organisations, invited guests and residents; it is held annually to welcome the town’s new mayor and council members.

Cllr Sismore-Hunt thanked all who gave to the collection, and praised the generosity of the person who was unable to attend the service, but rounded up the total with a last-minute donation.

The all-inclusive civic service included prayers and readings from members of different churches and faiths and was followed by a gathering at the Peter Hall.
