Exmouth RNLI’s overnight search for vulnerable missing man

Police concerned for the welfare of a vulnerable missing man on Friday night prompted a full search into the early hours of Saturday morning of the River Exe shoreline by Exmouth RNLI.

Exmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat crew Henry Mock, Roger Moore and Steve Satchel launched the George Bearman II shortly before 9.30pm on Friday, July 26, after Devon and Cornwall Police and the Coastguard raised the alert, reporting a missing vulnerable male who had not been seen for 24 hours.

The inshore lifeboat crew carried out an extensive sweep of the shoreline, using handheld torches and thermal image equipment; the search ended and the lifeboat crew returned to the Queen’s Drive station shortly before 1am on Saturday morning.

An Exmouth RNLI spokesman said: “Nothing was found following an extensive sweep of the area and the search concluded.”
