Owners of The Blue Ball Inn in Sidford are looking for someone to run the iconic pub.
National firm Punch says it hopes to give the popular watering hole, restaurant and hotel a makeover so it is ‘in excellent condition for its next team’.
“The pub is prominent on the main road through Sidford when heading to (or from) Lyme Regis so has regular passing trade,” says Punch on its website.
“This pub/hotel is a true community hub for local residents and various groups that regularly use it and we would like to see this continued.
“There is a fantastic opportunity to continue to develop the food within this business and the main reason to visit, for many of the guests, is the delicious Sunday roast and home-cooked food throughout the week, as well as a relaxing break in one of the nine guest bedrooms.
“The business also offers a function room, popular for meetings and celebrations, as well as housing the skittle teams – it is a very versatile space that has its own private garden area so there is lots of opportunity.
“We are looking to refresh this pub to ensure it is in excellent condition for its next team. This will entail improvements to décor, furnishings and furniture to ensure this warm and welcoming pub looks at its best.
“Externally, the property will be redecorated, some new signage installed, and we will also ensure the maintenance of the thatched roof.”
Punch says of the local area: “Sidford is an attractive village by the river in Devon, home to over 2,000 people.
“There are interesting buildings and a fabulous Norman Pack Horse bridge which spans the River Sid.
“The local area is a popular destination for artists and photographers and offers some delightful scenery close by, and just a couple of miles away lies the charming seaside town of Sidmouth.”
Punch says the pub will suit ‘a skilled operator with experience in running a larger-scale hospitality business’.
It adds: “Ideally, this would suit a partnership who are dedicated to delivering high standards of service and outstanding pub food.”
The Blue Ball Inn is ‘recently added’ on the ‘available pubs’ section of the Punch website.
