Apology issued to Budleigh Salterton residents left without power

Western Power Distribution has apologised to Budleigh Salterton residents who were left without electricity on Monday morning.

More than 1,000 customers were affected by the power cut, which began shortly after 8am on Monday, July 22.

The majority of homes affected had power restored before 9am; the remaining 27 customers without electricity were reconnected shortly after 10am.

A spokeswoman for Western Power Distribution said: “We have located the underground cable fault which occurred today, affecting 1174 customers. The majority of these were restored by an alternative circuit.

“We apologise to customers affected by today’s fault which as yet, we do not know the cause.”

Western Power Distribution said Monday’s fault was unrelated to a power cut in Budleigh at the end of June.

Western Power Distribution said on June 30 it dealt with an underground cable fault affecting customers in Budleigh Salterton; the fault was third party damage to a high voltage cable.
