All-round hosts – at the bowling club and at Charter Day

Members of Honiton Bowling Club manned a stand at Honiton’s Charter Day, inviting people to come and join them at their forthcoming open day and learn to bowl

Honiton Bowling Club played host to a South West Counties Ladies’ League match last week between Worcester and Cornwall. The winning team was Worcester. They were hosts again, at Allhallows Playing Field, when they manned a stand for Charter Day.
The annual event gave members of the bowling club a perfect opportunity to promote the club and its forthcoming open day.
Honiton Ladies enjoyed success in the Over-50s League in their match with Pinces Gardens at home, winning (34 – 27). Top rink: T Lambert, D Courtney, S. Hiscocks (27 – 9). Honiton gaining 4 points to Pinces’ 2 points.  Also in the away match against Crediton Green, the ladies won (39 – 28) again gaining 4 points to Crediton’s 2 points.   Top rink: Y Williams, H Chambers and J Sherwood. (26 – 6).  In the match against Seaton Blue, Seaton proved to have the stronger teams. Honiton ’s team of T Lambert, D Courtney, S Hiscocks put up a strong fight losing only by 1 shot.
In the Men’s Over-60s Triples League, Honiton A team visited Hemyock where they won the match (45 – 30). Honiton A gaining  6 points to Hemyock’s 2 points. Top rink: W Heard, R Rogers, T Pipe.
Two Mixed Friendly matches were played at home this week. In the first Triples match against Belmont, Honiton won (63 – 50). Top rink: K Clarke, J Mitchell, M Bright ( 19 – 8).  The other match was against a strong Tiverton Borough team with Honiton losing  (59 – 65).
Top rink: D Linley, M Richards, D Courtney (15 – 13)
