Dalek all set for Charter Day – and it won’t ‘exterminate’

A dalek and a full-size Dr Who tardis will be at St Paul’s Church in Honiton tomorrow (July 20) for Charter Day.

The iconic features of the classic BBC television series are being brought to the town by Exewing. The mutant aliens are staples of the long-running show and will be on display from 10am to 4pm.

During the day, there will be a chance to grab some prizes in a hat competition organised in memory of Terry Farebrother.

Mr Farebrother played an important role in the development of the town’s street market and was a prominent member of the town’s chamber of commerce.

A former market supervisor, he owned a shop in High Street and enthusiastically supported Charter Day from its inception.

You can mark his contribution to the town by wearing at hat at tomorrow’s all-day event. Proceeds are set to benefit animal charity, Ferne Animal Sanctuary.

Whether you choose to wear a period headpiece, a top hat or something totally unique, make sure you are at Allhallows Playing Field at 2.15pm for judging.

Prizes have been kindly donated by Honiton U3A.

This year’s Charter Day will take to 4pm, with entertainment in High Street, Lace Walk, Northcote Lane and Allhallows Playing Field. The Exewing will be bringing daleks and a Dr Who tardis to St Paul’s Church.

Features are set to include charity stalls, a classic car show, tractor run and much, much more. The full programme can be viewed here.
