Firefighters from Axminster and Colyton used cutting gear to free a casualty from a two-car collision on the A35 early this morning.
They responded to a report of a road traffic collision at Studhayes Cross, near Axminster, at 2.36am.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the incident involved a grey Volkswagen Golf and a white Nissan saloon car. The road was blocked in both directions.
A spokesman told East Devon News.co.uk: “The male driver of the VW was reported to be trapped in the vehicle and was extracted by the fire service.
“Both drivers were taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be serious. The road was reopened at 4.45am.”
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival crews confirmed this was a collision between two vehicles with one casualty still within one of the vehicles.
“Crews released the casualty by removing the roof using cutting gear. The casualty was then dealt with by ambulance crews.”
