Sidmouth hosted the Longest Day Ocean Challenge on Sunday when scores of endurance paddlers took to the water.

The Sidmouth Surf Lifesaving Club event, on July 14, was hailed a success as the surf lifesaving board and ski challenges were tackled by competitors of all ages.

Professional photographer Simon Horn, from Sidmouth, took these shots of some of the day’s action.

The sea challenge, now in its second year, was set up to raise the profile of Sidmouth as a water sport location, and to boost tourism.

The event attracts some of the best endurance paddlers in the country, taking part in the two elements – a 15km distance ocean ski; new to this year’s event was the introduction of outrigger paddlers.

The day was backed by Sidmouth Lifeboat and Sidmouth Sailing Club, who teamed up with Sidmouth Surf Lifesaving Club with water safety cover during the event.
