New date for triathlon that was postponed because of travellers

The Honiton Sprint Triathlon is back on. The original date for the major event had to be pushed back after travellers moved onto Allhallows Playing Field.

With just hours to go before last weekend’s scheduled triathlon, part of the field due to be used by event organisers was occupied by caravans and cars.

Requests for the travellers to move on were ignored. They finally left at the beginning of last week after being served with an eviction notice, issued in favour of East Devon District Council.

Today, Pure Endurance Triathletes announced a new date – Sunday, October 6.

Organisers have thanked those who signed up to take part for their ‘patience and understanding’.

A statement published on social media today (Sunday, July 14) said: “We totally understand that some competitors will not be able to make the new date, so please email us ASAP.

“Due to the circumstances, we will refund your entry fee.”

Any competitors who can’t make the new date should email pureendurancetriathletes@outlook.com
