A small fire in a flat roof at Fenny Bridges has been tackled by firefighters from Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Middlemoor.
Reported at 12.50pm today (July 10), the incident occurred in a domestic property where a gas main was later found to be ruptured.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reports that “crews were on scene within minutes and soon had the fire under control”.
It was contained to a small area of the roof and firefighters used one hose reel jet.
A spokesperson said: “The gas board were also requested after a gas main was ruptured.
“Crews made the scene safe and stood by awaiting their arrival. Once on scene and the gas isolated, crews left duty of care with the owner and gas board.
“There was no further fire spread or casualties.”
The incident was considered under control at 3.09pm.
