Six of seven vacancies on Honiton Town Council are likely to be filled at a meeting on Monday night.
A number of residents attended the council’s full meeting last month hoping to gain a seat but were told there would be a delay to ensure normal co-option protocols are followed.
Candidates will be expected to submit information about themselves in advance of the meeting and explain why they want to serve on the council.
A casual vacancy also exists on the authority after Mike Jones quit almost immediately after being re-elected to serve the St Michael’s Ward. This vacancy is being filled via a by-election early in September after East Devon District Council received the 10 signatories required.
The council hoped the extra month would encourage even more people to put themselves forward to serve their community.
In a statement on its website last month, the council said: “Those who have applied to be co-opted will be considered at the Full Council Meeting on the 8 July 2019.
“Should the casual vacancy not go to an election, then there will be a further co-option vacancy on the council and this will be dealt with as a separate matter.”
The co-options will take place in the council offices at The Beehive at 7pm.
