Honiton will be alive with The Sound of Music

Honiton Community Theatre Company is preparing to bring The Sound of Music to The Beehive.

One of the all-time musical ‘greats’, the show promises to be a fitting follow-up to the theatre company’s sell-out run of The Wind in the Willows last year.

A Rogers and Hammerstein classic, the musical follows nun Maria as she is thrown into the role of caring for seven von Trapp children in the Austrian Alps.

Set against the backdrop of a raging war and a father who isn’t sure how to love his children, Maria must not only look after the children but help the von Trapps become a family again.

With a storyline first made famous by Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in 1965, this show promises to appeal to theatre-goers of all ages.

The Sound of Music will run from July 31 to August 3. Tickets cost £12 for adults and £8 for children.
