Fun for all at Sidmouth Folk Festival 2019 as line-up announced

Scores of festival-goers are gearing up to flock to Sidmouth for the first week in August for the annual folk festival where the streets come alive with entertainment and fun for all ages.

This year the event is celebrating its 65th birthday – and organisers are calling the music-based event a ‘must’ in the diary of festival-goers;

The line-up so far of unique music, dance, song and entertainment planned for the 2019 Sidmouth Folk Festival, Friday, August 2 – Friday, August 9, has been announced.

Visitors in their thousands are expected to flock to the town to enjoy more than 700 attractions, performances and activities; top name concerts, family entertainment and colourful dance displays.

Children’s music workshops, creative crafts, circus skills, street theatre, singing, storytelling and games to fire young imaginations will take place at Blackmore Gardens.

The annual traditional torchlight procession at 10pm on the final Friday brings the festival to a close, followed by fireworks.

A spokesperson for Sidmouth Folk Festival said: “The town’s streets and venues come alive with festive atmosphere as holidaymakers and festival goers join together in a music-based holiday to remember.

“Whether you pop in for the day or stay for the whole week this festival really has something for everyone from smaller intimate shows to bigger concert size performances.”
