Firefighters from four towns tackle farm machinery fire

Fire crews from Honiton, Axminster and Chard, along with a water carrier from Yeovil, tackled a fire in farm machinery at a commercial property.

The fire in an animal feed grinder happened at Crawley, Yarcombe, and was reported at 4. 48pm on Monday, June 24.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started in the farm machinery’s mechanism.

A spokesman said four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet, thermal imaging cameras, a carbon monoxide monitor, and small tools were used to tackle the blaze.

The fire caused around 80 per cent fire damage to the machine and slight smoke damage to the rest of the building.
