Plans for 10 apartments in Exmouth’s Cranford Avenue unveiled

Plans for 10 apartments in The Avenues, Exmouth, have been unveiled.

A detached house and garage at 28 Cranford Avenue will be demolished and replaced with the dwellings if proposals are given the go-ahead.

Blueprints for a two-and-a-half-storey building – which would accommodate eight two-bedroom and two three-bedroom apartments – have been submitted to East Devon District Council (EDDC).

A total of 22 parking spaces would also be created on the site.

The planning application states: “The site currently consists of a large, detached dwelling and garage. It is surrounded on all sides by amenity space and an existing driveway to the front with access to Cranford Avenue.

“The proposed design would be for a two-and-a-half-storey building with apartments within the roof space.

“The existing access onto Cranford Avenue will be retained with good visibility and a new access for bin/recycling store in the location of a previous vehicular access.

“The proposed building will be a modern-day version of the ‘Edwardian to late 30s period’ as stated in The Avenues Design Statement document with ‘red brick, steeply sloping roofs, concrete tiles, gable ends with fine detailing and ornate bargeboards’.”

The existing detached garage would be replaced with two parking spaces for each two-bed apartment and three spaces for each of the three-bed apartments.

Plans for a 60-bed dementia care home with nursing accommodation on the site were rejected in 2014.
