Support for new Honiton restaurant

Honiton Town Council’s planning committee has reiterated its support for a new town centre restaurant. If approved by district planners, the latest Honiton restaurant will occupy an iconic site.

Hatice Oflaz is seeking permission to change the use of 20 New Street for the venture.

The premises, recognised locally for being the long-established base of Sparks shoe repairs, is currently permitted to be used for professional services only.

A change of use from A2 to A3 planning consent will enable food to be prepared and served on the premises.

Mrs Oflaz’s application includes the provision of a new rear access to serve a residential unit and fenestration changes.

Amended plans were considered by the planning committee which included internal layout and elevation plans, as well as additional information relating to a proposed extraction system.

The committee’s recommendation is subject to the agreement of the Environmental Health Officer.

East Devon District Council will have the final say.
