Honiton Dementia Action Alliance is raising funds for the town’s popular memory cafe.
Open twice a month, on the first and third Thursday of every month, Honiton Memory Cafe is run by support volunteers with the backing of the local Community Mental Health Care Team.
Based in the Methodist Chapel Hall, off New Street, it offers a welcoming place for people with memory problems, as well as their families and friends, to meet.
Primarily supporting those in the early stages of dementia, it aims to help Honiton residents with memory loss lead active and fulfilling lives.
Statistics gathered by leading dementia charities and the NHS suggest there are around 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia.
It is estimated that one in every 14 people over 65 will develop dementia. Over the age of 80, dementia is thought to impact one in every six.
Over the years, Honiton Memory Cafe has been a constant support to local families and their carers.
You can support the cafe through sponsorship or a donation. To donate online, visit Honiton Dementia Action Alliance.
